Osaka layover, 17 August 2009

On a 24-hour layover in Osaka, Japan, I found that we had changed crew hotel. We now stay close to downtown, and a 2 km walk to Osaka Castle Park.
I spent the morning from 6-11 am walking around the entire park. Fairly birdless in the midsummer heat, but should have great potential during migration and winter.
Flying from Dubai to Osaka takes place during daylight hours, and we had some truly magnificent views over the Himalayas!

Cicada, Cryptotympana facialis

And responsible for the terrible, never-ending choir of extremely loud buzzzzzzzing is this chap
