Cape Town layover
Out birding with Per Holmen, 11 Nov 2011
Per picked me up at the hotel at 6 am, heading for Pooi-Els which is a coastal site appx one hour from Cape Town in the direction of Hermanus. We spent a couple of hours here, walking along the gravel road looking for my target species; Cape Rockjumper. As we walked back towards the car I spotted a potential Rockjumper flying onto a rock at a distance, and we eventually came across a splendid male feeding his grown up baby. The female was seen briefly as well.
After Rooi-Els, we stopped at Macassar Water Treatment Plant for some photo-ops, then a short stop at Strandfontein WTP for Maccoa Duck.
